Note: No early check-in will be considered, residents should plan ahead for their own accommodation if they will arrive before the earliest check-in date.

Go to your room, and:
 
  1. Check all in-room items
  2. Complete the In-room Item Confirmation and Health Declaration at BUniPort > U-Life > Hall Residence within 48 hours.
Note: If you do not complete them on time, the University will assume that:
  1. your room is free from any defects, and
  2. you will be responsible for the make good or replacement cost for any items found missing or malfunctioning during room inspection if such defected items were not reported in the BUniPort before.

Show proof of COVID-19 vaccination record OR negative result of COVID-19 test within 14 days at the check-in counter

When typhoon signal No. 8 or Black Rainstorm Warning is hoisted:

  • Non-local students may continue with your trips to the Halls. We would arrange you to check into the rooms. But you need to visit our G4 Service Counter on the following day to complete the check-in procedures.
  • For local students, the check-in procedures will be postponed to the next working day.

Dear Residents,

Welcome to the Undergraduate Halls in 2021/22! As you are about to check in to the Halls, you are strongly advised to pay attention to the following must-know information to ensure a healthy and safe living in the Halls. 

Access to the Halls
You should ensure that you will EITHER have received the second dose of vaccine for 14 days or more before your check-in date, OR be able to present a negative result of COVID-19 test received within 14 days before the check-in date. You may be asked to present the proof at check-in, otherwise, you will not be allowed to check in until you have fulfilled the requirements. Daily online health declaration is also required for continuous access after check-in. If you decide not to take vaccination, you will need to provide a negative COVID-19 test result every 14 days.

You can upload your COVID-19 vaccination record or test result to the University Health Declaration System now. If you have taken the second dose of vaccination already, please upload the proof as soon as possible to facilitate timely verification of your proof. Please see details below.

Visitation of the Halls is also suspended until further notice. No visitor (e.g. students or parents) will be allowed to access to the Halls.

Do NOT Use Insect Foggers
NO fragrance, mosquito coils, or insect foggers should be used in the bedrooms as they will trigger the fire alarm system.

Flammability Standards of Mattress and Upholstered Furniture
You MUST obtain prior approval from the Hall Management before you bring your own mattresses / upholstered furniture into the Halls.

Parcels and Registered Mails
Parcel and mail services are applicable for CHECKED-IN residents only. Any parcels/mails exceeding 60cm long in any side or requiring signature/payment will NOT be accepted.

Large or Electrical Items into the Halls
You MUST obtain prior approval from the Hall Management before you bring in items with any side longer than 1 meter or Electrical appliances with high power consumption (except light appliances for grooming purpose). Residents, especially non-local residents who come to Hong Kong for their first time, are advised to read the Safe Use of Plugs, Adaptors and Extension Units.  Any 2-pin plugs and other substandard adaptors are NOT allowed.

Bring minimum luggage to the Halls on the day of check-in to avoid congestion. There is no provision of beddings in the room.

The following items are not allowed in the Halls:

  • Alcohol or drugs
  • Cigarettes
  • Weapons
  • Pets and animals
  • Mahjong and other gambling materials
  • Electrical appliances (consumption of power higher than 500W) or those not complying with local safety standards
  • Deep reach insect fogger(滅蚤煙霧器), fragrance, mosquito coils

For example, N 12 34 L denotes:
        North Tower

All students are assigned to the vacant beds (A/B/C in 3-person room, and L/R in 2-person room) according to the last 3 digits of their student number.

 

Residents may interchange their bed places with their roommates by submitting the "Application for Interchange of Bed within the Same Room" to their respective Hall Tutor and come to the G4 Service Counter for updating their Student Cards and room key cards within 3 to 5 working days after submission of the form.
 
Change of room is not allowed in the first month of residence. Please complete and submit the "Application for Room Change" to your respective Hall Tutor only after one month of check-in. If supported by the Resident Community Officer and/or Resident Master, as required, the change can be effected at G4 Service Counter with an administrative fee of $100 per resident.

Applicants are responsible to settle any difference in Hall fees incurred, if any, due to change to a different room. 
In-room air-conditioning and laundry machines on the 1/F are self-paid by using the Octupus Cards.
*Non-local freshmen are reminded that they should obtain Octopus Cards upon arrival on Hong Kong. Details of Octopus Cards could be found HERE
 
Charge of Air-conditioning:
HK$1.3 per kWh
 
Charge of Laundry machines:
  • HK$5.3 per washing cycle around 40mins
  • HK$1.1 per 10 mins drying
  • HK$1.1 per 5 mins for water extractor
All residents share an internet link of 600 Mb local bandwidth and 220 Mb international bandwidth. Residents who need to access the internet frequently are strongly suggested to subscribe for their own internet services from internet service providers.
 
All residents will be given 100 print quotas in each semester. The print quota will normally be activated one to two weeks after check-in. Once you have used up all the quotas, you may purchase more quotas at Office of Information Technology.
 
To report defects, please follow the path:
 
Login to BUniPort > U-Life > Hall Residence > Report Defects.

For defect which requires immediate attention, please contact the G4 service counter or the security counter at the South Tower (after office hours).
