Community Outreach Programme @ East Java, Indonesia



Indonesia East Java Community Outreach Programme is an inter-discipline educational activity set to give a learning experience to the students by living in the community to give respond to the actual social life and help the community development problems.

The programme is expected not only a community service, but also a two-way learning process. Students from different universities in Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, India, Singapore, the Netherlands and Indonesia, will apply their knowledge to meet the needs of the society and they can learn from the community as well.

The missions of this program are :

  • Help students understand that higher education is not an inseparable institution from the community, whose mission is applying science, technology and arts in real life.
  • Provide a learning experience to the students by placing them in the community – where COP is located, to help solving the problems of local development.
  • Increase students intellectual capacity in doing research, analysis and scientific problems solving in building dynamic society.
  • Provide a learning experience for students to be a capable communicator in various social level and cultural background.

Programme Fee*: $8,000HKD + $500 Refundable Deposit

*Leadership Qualities Centre reserves the right to amend the training dates with further notice.

1. Programme fee includes air-ticket, meal, accomodation, local transportation.
2. The deposit would be refunded upon completion of the programme.
3. Participants should have 100% attendance rate, as well as handing in a programme report and feedback form in order to complete the programme. 
4. Students should apply for absence in advance (at least 3 days prior) with valid reasons.
5. The depature and return dates of the outbound trip will have +/- 2 days difference, subject to the finalized flight schedule.

Below are the suggested scholarships for COP participants to apply, please study thoroughly about the application procedure and eligibilities for application.

  1. HKSAR Government Reaching Out Award 2019/20
    Application Deadline: 29 April 2020
  2. HKBU Summer Programme Sponsorship (offered by International Office)
    Application Deadline: At least 3 weeks prior to the commencement of the summer programme.
  3. Student Experiential Learning Grant (SELG) (offered by Faculty of Social Sciences) 
    (ONLY FOR students who are studying the UGC-funded undergraduate programmes offered by the Faculty of Social Sciences)
    Application Deadline: 17 February 2020*
    *Since the deadline is coming soon, you may apply it first even before we conduct the COP interview.
