Hong Kong Baptist University Global Youth Summit (HKBUGYS) is committed to inspiring and cultivating local and overseas youngsters to have a global mindset and become aware of the wider world while respecting and valuing diversity, and acting to build a better world as change-makers.

Background

This year, our theme is "Social Inclusion". A series of activities including inspiring panel discussion (CCL-recognised), survey, as well as local and global volunteering will be held, in order to deepen students’ understandings on the topic of social inclusion, and to stimulate them to take actions for the issue.

The Summit will be kicked off by Youth Speak Survey, which aims to collect voices of over 700 HKBU undergraduates and gather over 1200 youths from Hong Kong Baptist University. Students will be able to rethink and express their opinions on social inclusion, while we will gain information about the current situation of social inclusiveness on campus. Following the survey, Youth Speak Forum will be organized to enhance participants’ understanding and knowledge both locally and internationally. Guests from various background will share about their experiences of living in Hong Kong and their views on social inclusion. After strengthening their understanding on the issue, students will be encouraged to take actions. Local and global volunteering opportunities will be provided. Students will be able to apply what they have learnt, and to create a more inclusive society.

Past

Last year, the theme of GYS  was "Safe To Survive: Nuclear or Others?". A series of activities including inspiring speeches(CCL-recognised), overnight camp and study tour to Finland were held.

During the conference, energy issues was discovered and discussed, in order to enhance participants’ understanding and knowledge both locally and internationally. In addition to the discerning keynote speakers sharing their insights and experiences on global issues, participants enjoyed the opportunity to be an “Explorer”-to see, to search, and to solve the “unexplored” in our overnight camp & study tour to Finland. By engaging in the discussions and engaging in experiential learning activities in local community, participants became able to contribute to the resolution of energy issues. Furthermore, a caring heart was developed among our students who will be future leader of our society.
