This screening session features 12 AI short videos created by students from GEND3005 Gender, Society, and Culture. From construction workers to ethnic minority groups, student directors explore multiple gender stereotypes through digital media narratives, using AI video-making tools, to challenge popular, hegemonic understandings of gender and sexuality in our society.
This event is designed in collaboration with Prof. Lucetta Kam from the Department of Humanities and Creative Writing.
Ms. Jasmine Yuan ZHU
Jasmine is a PhD candidate at Hong Kong Baptist University. Her current research focuses on the construction of transnational femininity in overseas Chinese youth’s consumption of and engagement with Chinese social media. Her publications include gender politics in Chinese fandom sphere, and post-humanism in sci-fi genre films.
