Invitation to Run for the By-election of Student Member Representing Taught Postgraduates to the Senate 2020/2021

Dear Students,

 

By-election of Student Member Representing Taught Postgraduates to the Senate 2020/2021

Many students are concerned about the academic development of the University and serving as a student member in the Senate is one of the formal ways to reflect your views!

 

The Senate is the highest authority on all academic related matters of the University. Its powers and duties include:

• Promoting and providing guidance for the development of academic programmes and courses;
• Promoting and regulating teaching, learning and research activities;
• Making regulations on various academic affairs, including admission, promotion, registration, graduation and residence of students; and
• Deciding on matters affecting the welfare and discipline of students.

 

As the above position is currently vacant, you are cordially invited to participate in this by-election which will elect one taught postgraduate to represent the taught postgraduate students in the Senate for the academic year 2020/2021. The terms of service of this position shall take effect on 22 April 2021 and end on 31 August 2021. Kindly note that this is the only by-election organized during the academic year 2020/2021.

 

The important dates of the by-election are:

Nomination Period

8 March 2021 to 21 March 2021

 

Publicity Period

Begins from 25 March 2021

 

Election Period

14 April 2021 (10.00 a.m.) to 16 April 2021 (5.00 p.m.)

 

You may fill in the online nomination form and secure the support of 1 proposer and 2 seconders who are taught postgraduates. More details about the Election could be found here.
