    Cultural Intelligence On the Go!

    Cultural Intelligence On the Go!

Cultural Intelligence is a person's ability to relate and work with people from culturally diverse backgrounds.  People with similarity in ideas, beliefs and behaviours make up a given culture.  Cultures are formed in small groups, large groups or populations.  We are living in an increasingly diverse society which is only going to get more diverse.  Cultural Intelligence is an absolute essential skill for progress and success in the future ahead of us.

    Cantonese Peer Tutoring Programme

    Cantonese Peer Tutoring Programme

This programme is co-organised by the Language Centre and the Mainland Student Services Unit. It offers an interactive Cantonese learning platform for Mainland students. Local students serve as Cantonese Peer Tutors and teach Mainland Tutees Cantonese through interesting learning activities. Through this programme, Mainland Tutees can learn Cantonese in daily life and make friends with Peer Tutors, which can facilitate their adjustment and assimilation in HKBU and Hong Kong.

The programme is divided into two phases:
    Phase 1

    Phase 2
Is conducted in two rounds (October to December 2021; February to April 2022).
Includes Cantonese learning activities in different formats, e.g. lunch gathering, tea gathering, city hunt, etc. Peer Tutors teaches Mainland Tutees to use Cantonese in daily life.
Maintains a ratio between Peer Tutors and Tutees at around 1:3. (Limited quota for Mainland Tutees, first-come first-served)
