Seminar - Inter-Asia Referencing: A Methodological Note

In the past two decades, members of the collective in the Inter-Asia Cultural Studies have had sustained collaborations in developing an inter-Asia research and pedagogy. The Inter-Asia Cultural Studies journal aims to and have successfully published research on Asia by scholars based in Asia. A distinct methodological strategy developed within the project is encapsulated in Chen Kuan-Hsing's book, Asia as Method. In this seminar, I will attempt to flesh out the methodology, namely, the epistemological advantages of veering away from referencing the West by multiplying reference points in Asia and provide some concrete instances of the achievement of inter-Asia referencing.
