Regular exercise and other forms of physical activity are linked to the prevention and rehabilitation of over 25 chronic conditions. Despite this overwhelming evidence, few people worldwide are active enough to reap these health benefits. Interestingly, most people have good intentions to stay physically active but fail to enact these intentions. In this seminar, the current state of research on how to adhere to one's intentions is overviewed and the profiles of people who make good intentions but fail compared to those who succeed is profiled. Based on contemporary evidence, the seminar will provide a series of hands-on suggestions for the best ways to stick to your exercise intentions. These factors will include strategies to make exercise as enjoyable as possible, ways to become a master planner, and how to make exercise a habit.
