In view to enhance the global outlook of students, Career Centre organizes Career Exploration Trips every year for students who are keen to extend their knowledge on different workplaces in Asian cities. Singapore & Taipei, as the hubs for attracting and retaining highly-skilled workers, become the city young people highly appreciate as in the career development prospect. During the trip, students are expected to gain insights on relative career topics such as work culture and latest development of different industries in the cities.

  • Explore career development in different industries, and complete a group report

 

Company Visits

Potential industries:

Publishing, Hotel, F&B, Public Transportation, Banking, Public Relations, Cultural and Creative Industry (TBC)

 

Potential industries:

Manufacturing, Finance, Start-ups, Hotel, F&B, Government body (TBC)

 

Eligibility

 

  • Full time HKBU undergraduates
  • Able to speak in Mandarin and write in Chinese
  • Full time HKBU undergraduates
  • Able to speak and write in English

Programme Fee

 

HK$2,800

  • The programme fee includes accommodation (4 nights during 6-10 Jan 2020), local travelling and insurance during the programme period
  • Participants will have to purchase round-trip flight tickets to and from Taipei.

 

 

Participants studying UGC-funded programmes

After having satisfactorily completed the programme, participants will receive subsidy from Office of Student Affairs -

  • programme fee subsidy (50% of the actual programme cost or HK$1,400, whichever is lower)

A. Students of UGC-funded programmes

HK$1,900 (original cost: $3,800, subsidy from Office of Student Affairs: $1,900)

 

B. Students of non-UGC-funded programmes

HK$3,800

  • The programme fee includes accommodation (4 nights during 6-10 Jan 2020), local travelling and insurance during the programme period

 

  1. Round-trip flight tickets to and from Singapore
  • Participants will have to purchase round-trip flight tickets to and from Singapore.

Application Procedures and Remarks

  • Lucky draw will be held to decide the list of participants if enrollment number exceeds the quota.
  • Kindly note priority will be given to final-year students of 2019-20 Academic Year. Quota allocation is as follows:
    • Taipei: 18 (group size: 35)
    • Singapore: 13 (group size: 26)
  • You can pair up with another student in the application.
  • Deadline: 22 October 2019
  • Date of lucky draw: 25 October 2019
  • You will be notified of the lucky draw result by email. To confirm participation, your programme fee payment must be settled by 29 October 2019 or the deadline specified in the confirmation email.

Remarks

  • Participants must attend all planned activities and submit the group report.
  • Participants must ensure that he/she is holding valid travel passport and entry visa. If there is passport/visa problem or personal negligence resulting in the rejection by the Taipei / Singapore Custom, and/or the participant fails to satisfactorily complete the programme, Career Centre will not refund any of the programme fee paid, and the participant will not receive any subsidies from Office of Student Affairs. If encountering such circumstances, the subsidized participant of Singapore must settle an additional HK$1,900 to cover the full programme cost.
  • Participants must attend the Compulsory Briefing Session.
