Sir Edward Youde Memorial Award Schemes 2024-25 (Deadline: 23 September 2024)
The Sir Edward Youde Memorial Award Schemes are now open for applications from students undertaking UGC-funded/publicly-funded courses. The applicants should be Hong Kong residents who have resided in Hong Kong for at least 3 years as at 1 September 2024. Those who are holding student visa to study in Hong Kong are not eligible to apply. The different categories of awards are as follows:

APPLICATION
Student who wish to apply for the awards should:
- Read carefully the relevant information note listed above.
- Download and complete Part I of the relevant application form with Adobe Acrobat Reader (hand-writing is NOT accepted). Leave the last part "Declaration" blank as it wil be completed by the Office of Student Affairs.
- Type your personal statement as required in the form (i.e. Further informaton) in a separate file.
- Combine the completed form and personal statement with all the required supporting documents (including copies of HKID Card, certificates, examination result reports, unofficial transcripts from BUniPort, proofs of participation in extra-curricular activities/community services and most recent medical report (disable applicants only)) as ONE PDF file. Your PDF file should NOT exceed 25MB. You may not need to scan the documents in the highest/top quality if standard quality suffice.
- Name your PDF file in the format of "Edward Youde_student ID_full name" (e.g. Edward Youde_20232222_Chan Tai Man). We may not be able to identify your submission if you do not name your file as instructed.
- Upload the PDF file via our “Documents Upload Platform” at https://sfa.hkbu.edu.hk/supporting_docs/ (need to login with your SSOid). Please choose and click “Sir Edward Youde Memorial Award Schemes 2024-25” in the menu to upload the documents. We will NOT be able to receive your documents if you choose another scheme, so please click the scheme name carefully. The “Documents Upload Platform” will close automatically at 17:30 pm of 23 September 2024 (Monday). You will receive an auto-email from the system upon successful upload of your PDF file. To avoid being late, you should upload your PDF well before the deadline, as there may be unexpected technical errors/difficulties that require you extra time to solve. Note that the submission time is subject to our system’s clock on the website, which may or may not be the same as your watch, and the Office of Student Affairs has the discretion to make final judgments on whether the application is considered late.
- Invite your School/Faculty Dean or Head of Department/Programme or one of your professors to provide a confidential report on you as required in Part II of the form. An official stamp of School/Department on the report is required if the recommendation is not written by Dean or Department Head. Please ask your nominator to send the confidential report to the Office of Student Affairs by email to sfa@hkbu.edu.hk by 23 September 2024 (Monday) the latest.
Submission without the required documentary proofs will NOT be considered. Partial submissions / late applications will NOT be considered either.
Due to very limited nomination quota, only shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an internal panel interview at HKBU tentatively in late September/early October 2024. Suitable candidates will then be recommended to the Fund Council for their final selection. For your information, the final interview organized by the Fund Council has been tentatively scheduled for December 2023 in Hong Kong. If you are not physically in Hong Kong and/or you are unable to attend both interviews in Hong Kong, please do not apply.
