AIA FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP 2013/14 &

AIA FOUNDATION YOUNG LEADERS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME (YLDP) 2014

AIA Foundation YLDP and Scholarship are 2 flagship programmes of AIA Foundation to groom the next generations to become tomorrow’s leaders with social consciousness, in order to bring a better future of Hong Kong. The 2 programmes have been running for over 15 years. In total, over 400 students participated in YLDP and over HK$5.3 million was awarded via Scholarship.

  YLDP SCHOLARSHIP
Introduction AIA Foundation YLDP provides a leadership development opportunity for university students in Hong Kong who have great potentials to be unleashed. They are also students who treasure their given opportunities and will benefit the most from the programme. AIA Foundation Scholarship provides a financial assistance opportunity for university students in Hong Kong and Macau who have great potentials to be unleashed. They are also students who treasure their given opportunities and will benefit the most from the programme.
Characteristics
  1. One of the few inter-U leadership training to groom leaders of tomorrow with an internship opportunity.
  2. Career-related workshop provides knowledge to equip students to gain an edge in the work fields.
  3. Star speakers not commonly available in town to share their personal career aspirations.
  4. Local and mainland service experience.
  5. A 5-day consecutive physically-demanding outdoor training camp to train students’ leadership, team work, endurance, and independence.

Awardees shall cross over with students of YLDP to gain a chance to participate in activities of YLDP to widen their leadership skills.

Eligibility
  1. Year 1 or 2 full-time local undergraduates of any discipline;
  2. a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30 or above;
  3. appreciative to opportunities by demonstrating strong commitments in their previous engagements;
  4. enthusiastic in serving the community;
  5. with great potential to be unleashed, with good personal quality.

Student’s Privileges
  1. Young Leaders are entitled to participate in a series of activities which groom them to be leaders of tomorrow. The activities also provide them with tips for their career development which allow them to stay advance among peers in terms of career development.
  2. Young Leaders are entitled to join the AIA YLPD Alumni.
  3. Outstanding Young Leaders (5 in total) shall be considered an internship opportunity at AIA in the next summer vacation.
  1. a scholarship award of HK$15,000 per student
  2. Awardees of scholarship shall be considered to take part in some of the activities of YLDP of the season, and alumni activities.
Student’s Obligations
  1. AIA shall invite them for any publicity opportunities for sharing of their winning experience.
  2. at least 95% completion of the programme activities in order to be (1) known as Young Leader, (2) entitled to join the Service Tour in August.
  3. a total of about 20 – 25 days of commitment which includes presence in the programme activities and offline project work time.

* According to the guidelines established by the Undergraduate Scholarship Committee, in order to allow more outstanding students to gain awards and recognition of their achievements, it is recommended that the maximum amount of scholarship a student can receive each year is HK$50,000. Hence, higher priority will be given to students who have not received a total scholarship amount of more than HK$50,000 in the 2013-14 academic year.

APPLICATION

Please click here to download the leaflet and combined application form and submit the completed form together with copies of all supporting documents (including academic transcripts, certificates of awards/scholarships obtained, certificates for participation in extra-curricular activities/volunteer/community services) to the 801B counter, Office of Student Affairs, 8/F Yeung Shui Sang Building, Ho Sin Hang Campus, on or before 28 February, 2014 (Friday).

**Supporting documents regarding the applicant's financial situation and sources of financial support found in the application form are not required at this stage, but applicants may be requested to provide proofs when nominated.

Partial submissions / late applications will NOT be considered.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an internal selection interview in mid-March 2014 (It is a "MUST" to attend the interview in Hong Kong). Nominated students are also required to attend a panel interview arranged by AIA Foundation in April/May 2014.
